Design and publishing services
Last updated October 24, 2026
These terms cover the design and publishing services you can add to a project: interior formatting, cover design, file fixing, editing, illustration, and help with ISBNs, barcodes, copyright registration and Library of Congress numbers. Our terms of service also apply.
Scope and price
Formatting, file fixing and cover design are fixed price packages. Editing and illustration are quoted for each project. The price for any service you request appears on your quote, and work starts after you pay. Before we start, we confirm in writing what is included.
Revisions
Each package includes the revisions described when we confirm your order. Changes beyond those, or changes to the brief after work starts, may be quoted separately.
Timing
We give you an estimated timeline when we confirm the work. Services can add time before your book goes to print.
Your materials and our work
You confirm you have the rights to everything you send us. When you have paid, you own the finished files we make for your book. We may keep a copy for your future reprints.
ISBNs
In the US, ISBNs are issued by Bowker. Whoever buys an ISBN is listed as the publisher of record. You have two options:
- In your own name. We buy the ISBN for you, registered to you, for a service fee. You are the publisher of record.
- Through the Latter House imprint. Latter House Publishing is listed as the publisher of record for that ISBN. We explain exactly what that means before you choose.
Copyright and Library of Congress help
We help you prepare and file copyright registration and Library of Congress Control Number requests. Government fees and decisions are outside our control, and this help is not legal advice.
